You probably have an opinion about Jesus. Maybe you think He’s a great teacher or a prophet. Maybe you think He didn’t exist at all. Whatever you believe, we can probably agree that Jesus changed things.
We believe He wants to change you too, and that he’s paved the way back to God for you.
Jesus himself said: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. JOHN 14:6
Trusting Jesus as the way to God is not an exclusive path to God, it’s completely inclusive. No matter who you are, what you’ve done, no matter where you were born or the color of your skin, Jesus is the way for you to have a relationship with God. Everybody’s invited. Everybody’s included. Everybody’s important. Jesus loves you. Yes… YOU!!!
DO I HAVE TO BE A BETTER PERSON FIRST?
No, you don’t. You don’t change in order to gain God’s love, you change because you’ve experienced his love.
When you trust Jesus as your Savior, you walk into the fullness of God’s love. Gradually, over time, God’s love changes you as you follow Jesus. You change because you’re loved, not in order to be loved.
Through His death on the cross, and then coming back from the dead, Jesus took all of your wrong and gave you all of His right.
If you believe that and commit to following Him, your life will never be the same. It’s as simple as repenting of your sin, declaring you want to follow Jesus, and believing He is who He says He is.
Believing in Jesus is the first step on the greatest journey of your life! You haven’t finished the race—you’ve just gotten started!
HOW DO YOU ACTUALLY BECOME A CHRISTIAN?
You just have to take a few simple steps. Look at what the scriptures say:
…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ROMANS 10:9
But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name, JOHN 1:12
That’s it.
Confess with your mouth. Believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord…that God raised him from the dead, and your sins are forgiven and your relationship with God is begun. Do that, and you’re a Christian!
Prayer something like this…
Dear God,
I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that You raised Him to life. I want You to rescue me. I want to trust Him alone as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do Your will. I want You to live inside of me now, so that I can live with You in heaven someday. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
If you just prayed that prayer, then you made the decision to trust Jesus with your life! We would like to welcome to the family of God! Let us know if you made the decision!
We would love to follow up with you and provide you with resources as you start your journey to become a fully devoted follower of Christ.
SURRENDERING YOUR LIFE TO JESUS
You just started a personal relationship with Jesus! Let go of your doubts and trust Him as the Lord of your life. Now that you’ve accepted God’s free gift of salvation, your life will be changed forever! The greatest rescue mission of all time was when God sent his son Jesus so that anyone who calls on His name would be saved. No matter how badly you’ve messed up or how far from God you are, He’s waiting with open arms for you!
If you made that decision to surrender your life to Jesus, in Christ, you have become a new creation!
WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?
We would love to have the opportunity to further connect with you and see how we can be a blessing to you and your family. Are you in Central Florida? If you are, our Senior Pastor would love to meet with you in person.
We have great opportunities to get connected and grow in your walk with God, here at Delaney. We offer various ministries to meet everyone’s needs.
We also invite you to join us for our Worship Services on Sunday mornings (in person, or online), and Sunday evenings and Wednesday evenings if you are in Central Florida.
Now that you have made your commitment and accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are ready to go forward and live your life for God everyday at home, in your work, at school or wherever you may be. You are now ready to learn and hopefully will become hungry for God’s Word as it relates to your everyday living. You can look forward to experiencing God’s work and feeling His presence in your life!
To help you in your walk with God…
1. Read your Bible everyday:
This helps you to grow in your faith. It’s extremely important that you develop a habit of daily Bible study. If you do not have a Bible, we can provide you with one!
2. Pray:
Prayer is simply talking with God. It’s important that you pray each day and preferably many times during the day. You can talk to God at any time. It doesn’t have to be at a certain time but it helps to get in the habit of praying each day.<
3. Church:
You can join us each week online if you are not in Central Florida. It is also helpful to go in person to church if you are able. This allows you to have fellowship with others that are believers. It helps to strengthen your walk and helps you grow in Christ.
4. Witness:
Be a witness for Christ by your actions in everyday life. Put a smile on your face when you’re at work or school. Go out of your way to help or befriend a person in need and show them Christ’s love. Let people know that you are a totally changed person by the way you live your life and by your actions. Nothing can go as far to be a great witness for Christ as living by example!
Lastly, since you are a new person in Christ, remember that God IS listening to you when you pray. Stand strong and firm in your faith and make all the things listed above a habit, and your journey with your wonderful Savior and Lord Jesus Christ will be easier.
