How can we as a church best respond in this time of crisis?
- We can worship.
Reserve the 11 a.m. hour on Sunday to worship God, either in-person or livestream from home (http://delaneychurch.com/live). Worshiping together isn’t something that Christians can cancel or do without. It is essential to our Christian lives (Hebrews 10:25). - We can pray.
- We can give.
Though we cannot “pass the plate”, we can still give to support the ministry of our church:- You can give online at http://delaneychurch.com/give.
- You can mail your offering to:
1919 Delaney Avenue
Orlando, FL 32806 - Or you can drop it off in the secure mailbox in front of the church office.
- We can serve.
Actively check on other church members, neighbors, friends, and coworkers to meet needs during this crisis, bearing one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2;), and looking out for the interests of others (Philippians 2:4).
Especially focus at this time on the person whose names you placed on the cross a few weeks ago. Find ways to care for that person’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. We cannot quarantine the Great Commission to go and make disciples of Jesus!
If you have anything that you need help with, you can the church office: 407-422-0758 or our Delaney Prayer and Help Line: 407-536-6776. You can also reach us via email at delaneychurch@gmail.com.
“God is our refuge and strength: a very present help in times of trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)
We are called to be SALT and LIGHT in this world (Matthew 5:13-16).
DELANEY COVID-19 (Coronavirus) FAQ
Q: WHAT IS COVID-19?
COVID-19 is also known as Coronavirus and is a respiratory virus first identified in Wuhan, China. You can learn about COVID-19 at the CDC’s website here.
Q: WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS AND COMPLICATIONS THAT COVID-19 CAN CAUSE?
COVID-19 causes symptoms of mild to severe respiratory illness causing cough, fever, and difficulty breathing. The full list of symptoms can be found on the CDC’s website here.
Q: HOW DOES THE VIRUS SPREAD?
COVID-19 is said to be spread primarily from person to person contact, sometimes with a distance of up to 6 feet from one another. The virus itself is thought to be spread by coming into contact with an infected person’s respiratory droplets. The CDC has compiled a full list of possible ways the virus may spread here.
Q: HAS ANYONE IN OUR CHURCH FAMILY BEEN INFECTED?
If a COVID case has been reported by anyone in our church family, Delaney will report this through appropriate channels.
Q: HOW CAN I HELP PROTECT MYSELF?
The best ways to prevent the spread of any communicable disease, especially during flu season, are simple and easily practiced.
- Wash hands often and for at least 20 seconds using soap.
- If your hands are unwashed, be conscious and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Don’t share anything that has come into contact with another person’s saliva, whether in your living situation or social environments.
- Stay home when you’re sick.
- Cover sneezes and coughs with tissues and throw tissues in the trash.
- Get enough sleep and eat well to help boost your immune system.
- More info about avoiding COVID-19 is available here from the CDC.
Q: CAN THE CHURCH PROVIDE MASKS?
We have masks available if anyone is in need! These can be picked up in the church office and at worship services and Sunday School. Wearing masks is a safety precaution.
Q: HOW CAN THE CHURCH SERVE OUR COMMUNITY DURING THIS OUTBREAK?
The goals of every church of Jesus are threefold in times of crisis:
- Combat fear with information provided to encourage preparedness.
- Show God’s love to those affected in our community.
Taking all necessary precautions, members of the church family can use this time of crisis to reach out to and care for friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors. Even the simple step of taking the time to check on those around us will show the love of Jesus. Offering to pray for others will also help direct them to find their ultimate comfort and peace from God in a time of enhanced fear and worry (2 Timothy 1:7; 1 John 4:18). People are more open to God in times of trouble, and God stands ready to meet our every need if we will but ask (Psalm 50:15; Philippians 4:19; James 4:2-3).
Q: WHAT WILL THE CHURCH DO IF THERE IS A POSSIBLE CASE IDENTIFIED AMONG CHURCH FAMILY?
If there is a positively identified case of COVID-19 reported, the church will take action to provide care for the sick and protect others from infection.
- The church family will offer up to God concerted prayers on behalf of the infected person and his family (James 5:15-16; Psalms 46, 91, & 121).
- Within the limitations of any appropriate quarantines, the church family will reach out to the affected family to meet their needs during this time of illness.
- Anyone who has recently been in close contact with the infected person should self-isolate for two weeks.
- Anyone exhibiting symptoms such as cough, fever, or throat irritation should stay at home and avoid attending worship services and small group meetings. (Livestream: http://delaneychurch.com/live) The service can also be found on our Facebook Page and on our YouTube Channel.
- Delaney will regularly decontaminate and deep clean its facilities to prevent the spread of infection.
- For a better look at which countries are considered a “hot-zone” for the Coronavirus, you can check here.
Q: WHERE DO I GO FOR MORE INFORMATION?
More information about COVID-19, or the Coronavirus, can be found at the CDC’s Website here. Church members are also encouraged to contact their primary care physicians with any concerns.
Members can call the Delaney Prayer & Help Line (407-536-6776) with any specific needs.
Q: HOW IS THE CHURCH KEEPING PEOPLE INFORMED?
Delaney will continue to communicate through email, the church website, social media, text, and other forms of appropriate communication.
